Chile

ARC Developments was recently retained to act as lead developer on project to provide a 660MW coal fired solution for a copper mining company in Chile. ARC has been engaged to manage all aspects of a competitively tendered process on behalf of the client.

    Activities included:

  • Undertaking the necessary market analysis and managing market consultants and modelling
  • Negotiation of PPA, including fuel and freight pass through caps, capacity and energy components and risk apportionment in regard to EPC linkage
  • Management of Price Waterhouse Coopers in regard to tax and equity return logistics
  • Sourcing equipment and EPC from Chinese Vendors (Shanghai Electric Company), following review of worldwide availability and capabilities for sub-critical plant
  • Management of EPC drafting and negotiation into tax efficient onshore and offshore elements
  • Provision of alternative Chinese project financing utilising Hong Kong banks, Chinese banks and export credit agencies.
  • Management of the selection of Owner's Engineer and development of process to satisfy financiers’ issues with QA and Design and sourcing of O&M proposal from New Zealand entity

Chile Hydro

Arc has also provided pre-feasibilty advice to a mining conglomerate on a 1000MW Hydro plant in Patagonia, Chile. This project entailed ARC Developments conducting due diligence on works that had previously been carried out on the project and a market study of the Chile electricity market to determine through commercial modelling the value of the project.
