An accomplished
senior business leader with demonstrated commercial acumen and
an extensive track record in structuring deal, Boyd has led and
managed the development of oil, gas and coal resources, oil and
gas facilities, transportation, generation and transmission infrastructure
in Asia, Australia and Europe.
A co-founder of ARC Development International, Boyd was previously
a general manager for Tarong Energy Corporation, responsible for
developing the corporation’s long-term fuel requirements
including, acquiring a 7.4mtpa operating coal mine, initiating
two 5mtpa greenfield coal resources and the associated transportation
infrastructure, and crafting an innovative 25-year supply agreement.
He advised the Asia Pacific Transport Consortium on financial
closure of the historic A$1.3 billion Alice Springs-to-Darwin
rail project, with responsibility for negotiating the transport
agreements between sponsors, contractors, banks, sub debt, third-party
and institutional equity and government, along with corridor head
leases and sub-lease.
Previously, he held senior development roles with Halliburton
and its engineering subsidiary Brown and Root. As Halliburton
Energy Development’s Asia Pacific director, he pioneered
energy deals which delivered maximum leverage for the company’s
products, services and knowledge, including acquiring oil and
gas fields in Indonesia, China and Bangladesh. He also ran the
Asia Pacific business development activity for Brown and Root,
resulting in major projects across the region, and has held financial
management and strategic roles on projects such as the Chevron
Alba offshore processing facility in the UK and Europe.
More recently, Boyd has advanced a private equity fund to develop
renewable energy projects in Asia. Other projects have included
a large Malaysian independent power provider’s development
of a 50MW wind farm in Pakistan, supplying power to a large Australian
mining company in Laos and an associated mine development in Indonesia,
a coal supplier’s market-linked and sculpted contact for
negotiation with a generator, and assisting an Australian utility
in the sale of its power and pipeline assets.
An accountant by profession and a Fellow of CPA Australia, Boyd
hold a Bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of
Technology and an MBA from the University of Queensland.
